Zuurberg mountain trail
Blougat Pool: Nestled deep in a gorge along the Doringnek route, this natural rock pool is famous for its striking icy-blue water, caused by high mineral content reflecting the sky. It’s one of the best summer swimming stops in the region.
Otto’s Pool: A tranquil, tree-shaded rest stop higher up the stream featuring rustic wooden benches—ideal for a midpoint snack or cooling off.
The Zuurberg section of the Greater Addo Elephant National Park offers a completely different mountain biome experience compared to the main game-viewing areas. Because dangerous game like lions and elephants are absent from these high mountain ridges, it’s a dedicated, self-guided hiking zone set among Eastern Cape fynbos, deep ravines, and valley bushveld.
